Prayer at PBC
Following the examples of Jesus and the early church, prayer is absolutely central to all we do at PBC. We are learning together not just to bring our concerns and needs to God, but to spend time listening to Him as we seek to know His heart for ourselves, our friends, family and community, our nation and our world. We encourage prayer whenever we meet together, at Sunday gatherings, at Growth Groups throughout the week, in twos or threes, but on Monday evenings we meet together specifically to listen to our Father and to talk with Him.
Monday prayer sessions
We meet in the church sanctuary at 7.30pm, led by one of our pastors or members, beginning with a time of praise and thanksgiving, before dividing into smaller groups to pray. We have a regular pattern of themes for these gatherings, so that we can pray in a focussed and orderly way, but always open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. It is not necessary to pray out loud, and everyone is very welcome. In the winter we are trying to provide some daytime sessions too, for those who don’t like to be out at night.
Sunday
After our Sunday service there will always be some people available to pray with anyone who wishes, either in the prayer chapel, at the front of the sanctuary, or in a more private place if necessary. Our prayer team have special training, and can be relied upon to be non-judgemental and totally discrete. They are not all trained counsellors, but know when to call for help from someone more qualified.
Other prayer support
The Intercessory Prayer Team is a group of mature church members who will pray for any requests brought to their attention. They will keep any information entirely confidential.
The PBC Women’s Ministry has a prayer WhatsApp group which allows sharing of all sorts of prayer requests with other women in the church. If you would like to join this please speak to Louise Rice or Gillian in the church office.
